Joe Harding
Coach Joe Harding started coaching tennis at El Diamante in the fall of 2002 with the opening of the school. Earlier, he coached tennis and volleyball for 7 years at Avenal, Riverdale and Hanford high schools. Miner tennis teams have won 6 league titles and been in 7 Section finals, winning four. Additionally, his teams have been recognized for Academic Excellence multiple times at the Section and State levels. Overall, the Miners are 488-261 against Central Section opponents through the end of 2023. Individually, Miners have won Section Championships 4 times and runners-up on 3 occasions. Miners have advanced to the Sweet 16 in singles and doubles an additional 10 occasions.Coach Harding was selected as Visalia-Times Delta’s Tulare County Tennis Coach of the Year twice and the Fresno Bee’s Central Section Tennis Coach of the Year once. He graduated from Lemoore High School, earning 3 varsity letters in tennis. Coach Harding graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he participated in intramural tennis, leading his Battalion to the Brigade championship during his senior year. As a junior naval officer after graduation, Harding won two base championships at the Submarine Base in Groton, Connecticut and finished as high as 4th in the subsequent Navy Regional Tennis Tournaments. He completed 30 years of Active and Reserve Naval Service before retiring in 2013.GO MINERS!!
