The El Diamante High School junior became the first wrestler in school history to win a CIF State individual championship on March 1 at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield.

Creason captured the 157-pound state title, beating Buchanan's Leo Contino by a 4-1 decision to become just the 14th grappler in Tulare County history to win a state crown. He won four of his six state matches in dominating fashion, two by pin and two by technical fall. His other two wins came by decision.

Creason is the first Tulare County boys wrestler to bring home a state gold medal since 2017 and is also the first Visalia boys wrestler in nearly half a century to stand atop the podium. Mt. Whitney's Scott Jones claimed the state heavyweight title in 1980.

Creason continued his family's outstanding tradition on the mat, too. His aunt, former Redwood standout Jennah Creason, won a state wrestling championship at 143 pounds in 2023.

Creason is coached by his dad, Chris Creason Sr.

"He just dominated," coach Creason said. "He did his own style. He went in there and stuck to the game plan."

Creason culminated his historical season with a 41-6 record. Only three points were scored on him at the state tournament.

"That was amazing," coach Creason said. "It was something we talked and worked for since we started — since he was five or six. He was little."
